Description:

A pre-touchscreen video slots game with a bonus poker round.

Technical:

Cherry Master PCB
Information on this game is difficult to find. The hardware is CM-1 v1.01. The game has what looks like a Capcom style suicide battery, though I don't know if it is a suicide battery or just for settings and scores. Unlike the Jamma Standard, the 8-liner harness feeds in power on a separate harness. A jumper is run from the +12V line to power the lighted switches. The main harness contains a wire that controls if the light is supposed to turn on.

About My Game:

I purchased this game as a two for one deal at a antique store in Oklahoma City. The game was in rough condition and needs a new CPO and a good cleaning. The monitor is a 13" with a WG-K4800 chassis. This was also my only game that had a dollar bill acceptor, but I removed it because it was causing the monitor to have problems.

I am going to leave it as a video slot machine, I may look into updating the board at some point.

Repair Log:

Tested game and then replaced the WG 4800 14” monitor chassis with one I purchased from eBay. I tested it again and found that the bill acceptor was causing problems. The monitor was still dark on one side and had some horizontal shifting at the top so I decided to recap it to see if it would fix the problem.

Disassembled the game for cleaning, it was not as bad as the Pit Boss but I thought it would benefit from a good cleaning. I replaced the control panel overlay with one I had designed and printed on an 11x17 page. I covered the print with contact paper and applied it to the surface with rubber cement. I recapped the monitor with a therealBobRoberts.net cap kit and began some reassembly.

Finished reassembly of the game and briefly tested.

Continued retesting game, rather than the dark screen on one side a saw tooth wave pattern that scrolled upward became clearly visible thought the center of the screen. Colors looked great though. I checked the voltages on the power supply and on the main pcb but no problems were evident. I think it is possibility caused by a bad isolation transformer but I have yet to ask the message boards.
